Welcome to the Special Technology Development Program (STDP) Website. Our aim is quite simple: To put you in touch with the people who can help you obtain and implement the technologies developed through STDP has funded since its inception in 1990.

The STDP is a competitive granting process intended to accelerate the transition of research findings into real-world applications. The program has a focus on short-term technology development that addresses both Regional and National needs. The Program is administered and funded at the national level, with goals and objectives established to:

* Enhance deployment of Forest Health Protection (FHP) technologies

* Effectively use resources to promote forest health

* Respond to emerging forest health problems

Some project examples includes risk assessments, semiochemical evaluations, demonstrations of integrated pest management techniques, simulation and visualization models of insect and pathogen impacts, development of pest control techniques, and evaluation of the effects of management tools such as prescribed burning, spraying, and thinning.
